1903 drill rifles donít count toward your yearly limit... or your ONE 1903 or A3 when rifles are available.

Based on Tom's AM post revealing a good number of SA FG's, I made the 35 minute drive over from Georgia after our Southern Baptist morning revival meeting finished (yep, some of us still meet mornings and evenings during summer revival). I didn't get there until around 1300 local, but was rewarded with pre-Pearl Harbor SA FG 33733X that has original finish, strong heel stamp and is screwed onto an SA 10/49 barrel measuring 2/2. I have a correct trigger group for this babe as well as an uncut -3 op rod, narrow base SA GC, and a beautiful walnut rebuild stock with both AA (sanded) and RA-P cartouches from DuPage's recent two for $80 stock sale(anybody know when Raritan stopped rebuilding Garands)?

I promise to learn to post photos and will update this soon with pix.

Also, it was a pleasure to see GeeBee again after two years!

After resisting for 2 years, I finally scratched the itch and drove down to Anniston today. I walked into the store about 12:30. It was great to see Mike behind the counter, and I also ran into Eagle Scout. I quickly found a Springfield 900 thousand 1903 with correct 1918 barrel that gauged 1/1. The bolt body is electro-penciled with another serial number. I have many bolt bodies home so that’s not an issue. I think that it was still there so late due to it missing a buttplate, but the great guys behind the counter quickly put one on it.
I stayed for the 2:00 restock, and got a nice 2 million mixmaster with a 1/1 LMR barrel. What sold me on it was a great GAW stock. Unfortunately when I took a close look at the hotel, I found a crack by the pistol grip. Hopefully they will replace the stock tomorrow.
As always, a great trip visiting the great folks that run CMP.

Default Friday opening report

Sorry guys, I was at the store at opening and started visiting with an old friend, Charlie Brown and got side tracked. I dam forgot to post a report!!! I know I will get a letter of reprimand from the Board of Director for the South Store Report!!! LOL

There were 10 customers at opening and there were 4 additional rifles added this morning, WRA FG1 and SA FG 3. Opening report this morning was the same as yesterdayís closing except as indicated below.

Some have asks about the 1911 wooden shipping boxes if still available, they are.

Good luck on your searches!!!

I was able to do my first visit to the south store on Thursday morning. I was in Atlanta on business and was able to drive over before my flight. A big shoutout to PH68 for his help before the visit and during. Got there at 6am to be sure to be first in line. There were a number of other first timers there as well. PH68 was able to help find the one USMC 1903. Great score and I'm tickled pink to have it. He also helped me find a WWII M1 with matching barrel and other matching parts. Can't wait for the rifles to be shipped so I can check them out in more detail. Couldn't be happier with my visit. Everyone was so helpful.
