Any military bases that have billiting near the south store? I need to find an inexpensive place for tomorrow night

Default base

If you are retired you might try the National Guard base at Ft. McClellan, single room $30.00 and 2 room suite $50.00. Stay there all the time when I am over that way, very nice.

That sounds great, just need a place to sleep, I'm the morning I'll go to the store, hopefully make a few purchases then back on the road to Cleveland.

So the base is FT McClellan? Ill have to search for a billiting number, how far is it from the store?

Default Lodging

Found their card, their number is 256-847-4200, email is: ng.al.alarng.list.fmarngtc-lodging. It is about 10 miles from the store, very easy drive. Ft. McClellan used to be the home of the MP & Chemical school until it was closed, the AL National Guard kept some of it and the rest went to the city of Anniston

Could you double-check that email address? It doesn't look right with no "@something" in it.

I'd love to see pictures of the exterior building. I was stationed there twice and went to school three times I wonder if its the 'old' lodge or one of the barracks?

The NG area was several miles away from where my office was located and the new (at the time in the 80's) MP basic barracks were taken over or abandoned (a real shame) while the MP NCO training facilities also were very nice.

This sounds like an awesome place to stay, but I cant find any info searching the intermost net.

Any more info you guys can provide about the lodging? Can you have firearms
on post or in your vehicle? Do you pass thru a manned main gate to access?

Do the rooms have a coffee maker or should I bring my own?

Thanks!

Steve

FT McClellan AL
256-857-4185. I used
6730 FT McCllen BLVD. In my GPS, Its actually the addy across the street but it gets you there.

The number on my room receipt.
Yes it's a manned guard post, I'm pretty sure firearms are handled the same as on any military base, check in the armory. There's a 100% ID Check, but no vehicle inspection for the threat level of the day I went. My room had a full size bed, mini fridge, microwave, small coffee maker, I didn't use, it was comfortable, quite and safe being a guarded post.

$33 +$5 misc, I assume taxes so $38 total, GPS Said it was 25 minutes from the CMP store, and that was accurate. I'll post pics and an address tomorrow, if you Google the base it sends you to the old abanded post a mile down the road, I was lost for an hour looking for the right place, but the main entrance/gate is right on McClellan BLVD.

Check in is 1400, check out is 0900 unless pre aranged for a later time

Disregard the fat guy in.the mirror, he won't be in your room

And there is a nice big widow in the room. I got in at 1030 and left at 0700 so I had no time to check out the rest of base
