Default Pistol Ammo

I just aquires about 500 loose rounds of WCC 42 45 ACP ammo. It looks pretty clean but am wondering if it's OK to shoot. If so would it be better to try it in my 1911A1 or the 1917 SW? I suspect it has corrosive primers so I'd clean either weapon right after shooting.

Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks, BILL

Actually VERY corrosive....Shot a few mags worth through an old 1911 I have and cleaned it (I thought) thoroghly with boiling water & soap, even lightly oiled it.......Was in the safe a few weeks later and whole inside of barrel was covered with orange rust...

Ammo shot well, was crisp, and ejected well, but next time I'm going to plug the barrel and fill it with the soapy water & let it sit for a few days....

Then you'll really see some rust.

After shooting corrosive ammo, Hatcher wrote that the gun should be cleaned with water each day for three days after the firing session. Between each cleaning oil the gun.

Your problem was you just did not clean the gun well enough.

I coulldn't bring myself to shoot it. I consider WWII ammo to be a part of history.

I know what you mean. I have a clip of TW 41 in my collection of goodies just because of that same reason.
