Default Hand Guard Question

I just recieved my Bavarian SG Carbine. The wood for the hand guard is pretty loose. It moves at least .25" back and forth. This is my first Carbine, is this normal. If not, is it something that I should be concerned with and is it easy to fix?

Default hand guard

My Austrian return has a "loose" handguard. It doesn't seem to cause any problems at all.

.25" sounds a bit excessive to me. Make sure that the barrel band is on as far back as it should be.

It is probably a little loose, but as long as it doesn't pop off by itself it won't affect operation or accuracy.
