Default Heading to the NS on Saturday, 12/15...anyone else?

I'm planning on bringing the kids to the NS on Saturday, aged 14 and 17, to pick out a receiver to build into a rifle for their grandfather's Christmas present. We might also pick out a few odds and ends, depending on what they have.

We went to a Garand Clinic this past Summer (grandpa, mom, and the two boys), and everyone had a blast. I'm hoping for a nice 2 million receiver, since I've got the correct barrels, bolts, and stocks in my stash, the build should be mostly correct.

Are there age limits to shop at the store? Would a pair of well behaved teenaged boys be any problem?

Also, FWIW, I'll post a very detailed report, with photos, so you Magna customers can see what he'll be drawing from. I promise to leave a few gems behind!

I've taken my grandson and if they are real good they may get a sucker.

I have seen many children come in with their parents and they have been well behaved. They even have some coloring books on hand for the younger ones. Since the CMP is all about youth involvement I am sure they would be quite welcome there. Good luck to you on your shopping.

I was planning to go, but it looks like it is going to be reasonably warm and the rain is holding off until afternoon, so I need to do outside work around the house. Maybe mid to late January for my next fix.

Default Nice 2m receiver

DPD,
If you're looking for a really nice original finish 2m receiver at the NS on Saturday, I'd head right for the Navy MK2 M1 barreled receivers. It'll cost you $350 but you get a .308 bbl that is worth $100-150 (I'd try to find an H&R or AMF one). The $195 receivers are all re-parked and not the greatest. I was there on Wed. and there were lots of verrrrry nice original finish WWII receivers on the .308 bbl'd rcvrs. Just be careful as a very few of them had bbls with T.E.'s of 6 or 8. The field grades I looked, both SA and HRA, more closely resembled the rack grades of old. Lots of Nice "rusty" Kimbers, too. Good Luck.

I was supposed to go but something came up and I was going to ask someone to grab me something small if they live close by.

Otherwise shipping kills it.
