Hey! They are there for technical help just as much as returns on your new rifle. Glad you got it figured out! Enjoy the rifle.

My advise in the future is to ask questions first, place blame second! You slammed their quality control when it was user error!

I heard from a gunsmith friend of mine that a guy brought one in that he "fixed" by welding up the gas hole and was wondering why it wouldn't go back together.

Seeing how I rushed to judgement, as soon as I found out about my error, I sent an apology email to CMP.

You made an honest mistake and owned up to it. No one should fault you for that.

Rest assured that if there had been a problem, customer service would have made it right. They did for me last week when I had a problem with a 1903 and I've more than pleased with CMP customer service.

Thank you...they will appreciate that. Glad it was something simple and you get to keep a rifle that sounds like a good one.
And don’t worry as you aren’t the first, and won’t be the last person to do this.

You can start another thread in the Garand section about your rifle. Use this thread to post pics:
