Very interested in following this project. Would really like to do an A4 build starting from an A3 sporter. Good work so far and good luck!

Are you going to re drill the holes for the scope base yourself?
I've heard that the SC receiver are hard to drill |

I was drilling and tapping a pile of A3 receivers and didn’t realize I’d drilled an SC until I was done. I didn’t notice any difference, but I was using a nice CNC mill with solid carbide tooling.

Some small metal parts arrived. Screw kit still to be received.
![]() Ordered two barrels, figured i would need a spare eventually for one my my a3's. The CMP is super far behind shipping criterion barrels so i will have someone thread on one of these RA44 barrels. ![]() ![]() |

[QUOTE=Jpolham1;2016301]thanks, I was aware the weld spots would be a different color, tell me more about this park blackening... I haven’t heard of that.[/0seQUOTE]
I think Laurer's from Midway is the stuff I use. I use it regularly when I want black parts. Just dip it in for 10-15 seconds, rinse it (instructions say air dry) but doesn't seem to matter. Put it in parkerization solution and park as normal. Worked for me. |

A little victory... The scope rail showed up, seems to be good quality. I also bought fillister flat head screws to change out the torx that the CCOP mount comes with to be more correct. Its the little things, right?
With the mount centered on the front receiver ring, it is centered on the existing rear hole. I just need to open it up and thread to 8-40. Lastly, i ordered another ammogarand web sling. I like these the best out of any web sling I've tried. Also some more development. With all gunsmiths being booked out several months, I have decided to take on all aspects of this build myself. I will be mounting the scope rail, rebarreling/finish reaming, and parkerizing the rifle myself. I have done all this in the past except for parkerizing but that looks super easy. Equipment / parts for all this work is on its way to me...although probably delayed (Thanks USPS!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The flat head screws on the mount are a nice touch. I like it!
Parkerizing is easy. Just make sure your blast media is clean. |

I believe that screw is called a "cheese head", not a "flat head".

I'm watching. I have an item on my work bench for this build that should look good and work nicely. Yer right Justin nice filister head screws are the way to go. Those cheap ChiCom monkee screws are worthless.
