ACTUALLY...

I kinda think it stands for either MEGABYTE or MILTON BRADLEY!!!

LOL, not saying you're wrong! Just saying I'd like to see more evidence before I'll buy it 100%. It could well be a testing mark.

"Military Bought"
just incase you weren't sure if it was yours before it walked out the door in your pocket?

MB if stamped on a Colt barrel stands for "Match Barrel".

I read those links. They show discussion and speculation just like this thread. They even say it is speculation.
Here are some facts:
MPI is clearly used on some USGI small arms to indicate magnetic particle inspected
1911s have a documented history of various marks indicating inspectors and rebuilds, even unit and rack marking

Not a fact, but it seems reasonable to expect some documentation indicating that MB refers to an MPI if such were the case.
Perhaps such documentation will surface, documentation linking MB to something else (my bad), perhaps it will remain a mystery for the ages.
Rosebud?

Lol, now we’re speculating between M-B and the single A xx xx rebuild marks, that searching about reveals nothing so far, but still intriguing!

Here is a question for those tracking the markings-

Have any M-B marked pistols been seen without the OB rebuild marking? Or, have any M-B marked pistols been seen with a different rebuild marking?

Yes, the MB mark has been around for a while whereas the OB mark is new with this release. I'd have to check about other rebuild marks but the info is out on the interwebs.
