while having the certificate and/or box would be nice, it doesn't really add any more value to the rifle.

I do believe having the boxes and all the paperwork will help with the sales and does add a small amount to the price. If you come across an old DCM sales carbine from the early 1960's with the original shipping box and related paperwork they do command slightly more. I fully understand the CMP sales carbines w/paperwork has not reached that level yet, but the provenance of CMP sale does help.

I would NOT sale these carbines through any auction house. Friend of mine is an FFL and has dealt with many collections, from commercial to military firearms. Yes some items go bonkers at auction, M1 Carbines are far from a "rare" item, unless of course an IP, line-out, UN-Quality etc... After paying all related fees to the auction house you may be rather disappointed.

If mine I would sell individually.
