Default Winchester M1 Carbine desires!

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a Winchester M1 Carbine. What can I expect to pay for a decent example?

Thank you for your time and help.

I snagged one from the CMP back in 2016? Whenever they last had them. I think they were $685?

Outside of auction sites, the low end is around $950 for a good shooter non-import with no CMP papers. You might get lucky and find one for less and/or one that comes with ammo and some mags and CMP certificate, but plan on $1,000 or a bit more, and go from there.

I appreciate the effort andrew, but this statement really doesn't help me since this is information from three years ago, and the CMP is no longer selling M1 carbines. Thank you anyway.

Agree with above. If it says Winchester on the receiver and is in operable condition, expect to pay $1K. If you are able to find an example with additional Winchester parts, stock, good condition barrel...expect the price to climb!!

I sold a corrected Winchester last month for $2100 at a show. It was nice and all parts were what Ruth's book said were supposed to be there.

Probably north of 1K, Winchesters often cost a little more because of the name. And before the masses pile on, I fully understand the numbers made per manufacturer, however joe q average gun guy wouldn't know rockola vs inland but he would recognize winchester.

Twenty years ago plus, on CSP Garand forum someone said, "I wouldn't have one of those pop guns unless I could pick up a Winchester at a good price."

Which of the original manufacturers has the best reputation as far as reliability?
