Default .308 Ammo - good to go?

West German? Corrosive? OK to shoot?

Thank you,

Pat

Yes, German early 7.62x51 issue, 1959 mfg. “soft core” (lead) Berdan Noncorrosive primed.
The “H” might indicate Austrian mfg (Hirtenberger) as the Germans used several makers to build up stocks in this caliber when first adopted.

Shot very well in the 1980s when imported. Only question is the condition it has been stored in over the last 30+ years.

Thanks Ammolab and Kestrel for your replies. Was concerned that the early stuff may have been corrosive primed. Here are pictures of the same manufacturer but a different lot.

Green sealant around the primer and bullet.

I bought some of that years back at a auction. I found it not very accurate and sold it all
