Default Malfunctions again

I just put 3 more clips through my Garand and all three failed to feed the second round. I adjusted my relpads' OAL so dont think that's it.
I'm thinking now its gotta be either the clips(which seemed difficult to load) or something internally wrong.
Next week I'll take different clips, the same reloads, and some factory loads for more troubleshooting.
The reloads are PPU brass and AEC 3 clips. I just read of others having problems with the same combination.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
John

What is the history of the gun? Was is a CMP purchase or home built gun?

Are all of the parts internal up to spec?

AEC is an acronym for Aggressive Engineering Corp. Aggressive Engineering Corp did produce military clips but I think those are stamped AGE. AEC claims to use the same machines to produce AEC commercial clips that were used to produce military contract clips and they may but AEC clips are not quality clips. Personally I prefer SA clips. In my book they are the best.

The below link may be of help

Thanks for the replies!
I bought the gun at the CMP North store about a month ago. As far as internal parts, that's a solid maybe......this is my first one. Nothing looks bad, but the only measurements I know of are for the op rod, and it's all good.
Gonna read about clips for the rest of my shift tonight.
So if it isn't the clips or ammo, what's the next most likely suspect?

Do you have a Bullet guide you can swap out on a working Garand? They sometimes will give you feeding issues if its bad also.Good Luck,I hope you get it fixed.

I don't have an extra bullet guide......how would I know if it's bad? I don't see any wear at all. Doesn't even seem to be any thinning to the finish. Is there something else that can go wrong with it?

Have you tried some factory ammo?
PPU M1
Federal AE M1 ammo
HXP

Wont feed 2nd round. ??
Is the bolt cycling and closing on a empty chamber?
Short cycling
Is the bolt picking up the 2nd round only to fail to strip the cartridge completely and fail to chamber?

Can you tell us a little about your reloads
Was is your gas cylinder lock screw tight?

Oh this should have been my first question.
Did you detail strip and clean and inspect the rifle before shooting it.

Heres a good start. Should provide enough info to find most M1 ailments.

Yes, first shots were PPU factory. It worked fine then, but that was with the clip that I got from the CMP. Not sure which one that is now though!
Yes to your second question as well. The spent round is ejected and the bolt closes on an empty chamber. After manually feeding the second round, 3-7 operated flawlessly. The second round has always been still in the clip like I loaded a fresh clip with 7 rounds in it.
Reloads were 150grn Hornady fmjbt with 46.0grn of H4895 and CCI 200 primer. Another batch was 150grn Sierra Spitzer with 46.5grn H4895 and CCI primers. I was careful to load them the correct length this time.
Gas screw is tight.
Yes, I detail stripped and generously greased it all.I changed the Op Rod , trigger guard, and rear sight to be correct parts, but the problem was the same with those first parts too.
Thanks!
John
