Default Winchester super X 165gr power point in my M1?

I'm ot sure if this belongs in the ammunition section but its more of an M1 question really.... I am wondering if this ammo is safe to shoot in my M1, and by safe I mean safe on my M1 parts and wont over pressurize my gas system?

I have shot it with great results on paper and would love to keep using it if I can.

Thanks in advance for any information and sorry if this has been covered but the search drop down doesn't open on my handheld....

Jon

The bullet weight is ok--it is the powder type and amount that one needs to be concerned with. If you do not know what that might be, I would be cautious.

Im certainly weary, I know even some 150gr commercial stuff is too hot.

I have the opportunity to buy some cheap (to Canadian standards) and that window is closing, looking for a definitive answer to my query of anybody has one!?

I don’t think you will get a definitive answer. If this ammo is a spectacular deal just buy an adjustable gas plug and call it a day.

Win 150gr and 180gr Powerpoint look a little warm.

Learn to sense the action when you shoot. With a little practice it's not hard to tell a load that is easier on the gas system from one that really hammers it.

Lot's of opinions on this over the years;I just fall back on the CMP's recommendation that 180gr or less commercial ammo is good to go. I've shot tons of Remington 150gr CoreLokt without issue. I load up when Walmart has a sale and Remington a rebate.

Of course, you rifle, your call!
