Default Flip sights

On he flip sights, which of the two sights is for short range and which one for long range if one of the two legs is toward the shooter and the other pointing up?

Thanks,

The taller leg pointing up is for the longer range. The taller leg should be pointing toward the target when looking through the aperture of the shorter leg. If not, your sight may be on backward.

Another way to look at is there should be an S or varying size and shape on the left side of the base and the dished out part of the aperture should be facing towards the front. Weird things happen along the way of building 6+ million carbines so expect to see some oddities.
