I got there just before 0900 his morning 10-15 and was lucky enought to snag the last 513 T. When I left at 11 30 the one 521 MSU Marksman refered to was still in the rack. There were four Anchutz complete rifle in the rack three of them were 1800's series at 700 ea and one was a 1400's series and was priced at $400. The Krag's are a mixed bag. Good metal with rough stocks or rough metal/ parade with a very nice cartouched stock. I figured it would take two at about $500-$600 total to mix and match to put together one decent rifle. The regular M-1917's that were left were fair with half the tags listing bad headspace. About 20 parade/ chromed 17's. Everything else MSU Marksman said was right on. Nothing special in the M-1's, however, just before I left a gentleman went to the counter with a Service grade H&R that was hiding in the rack. It surprised the counter person that they still had a service grade in the mix.

Just curious, but were the racks being restocked as the bolt guns and .22s were being sold off?

When I was there last week, there were only one rack each of SA and HRA FGs, about 1/2 of the back wall was WRA RG and FG and Specials, and about 12 Corrects. If they're restocking the Garands, I might make another trip up this week...

So YOU were the guy that ruined my day yesterday!!! Hope it was still a decent one for you. I got there about 1:30, to an empty rack of 513's. The 521 was also gone when I got there. Oh well. I thought about picking up one of the barreled receivers, but just didn't know what kind of prices I would be looking at for a stock set and trigger group.

The Mossbergs were still there, thought about getting another one of those, but passed. I will say that seeing the conditions of the Kimbers for $350, the guys who picked up a "rusty" one for $400 definitely got a good deal.

As far as the Garands, there did seem to be a few of the field grades that I thought didn't seem to be in too bad of condition. Muzzle readings of 2 and 2+ were on the tags. I don't know enough about the stocks to tell if there was anything special about them, but a lot of them had the circle "P" on the bottom of the handgrip.

So, I ended up leaving with a can o' ammo, the 200 loose packed. Can't go there without coming home empty-handed now!

Edit: And they weren't restocking the .22 racks. I was told if it's not a full rack, what you see is it.

Default That's It

That's it for The Bolt Guns and 22's, nothing more behind the counter. Plenty of project Krags and some none headspaced enfields. If the card does not mention headspace, then it does not, is what they said at the counter.
Plenty of Field Grade garands, no Service grades.

Were there any Service Grade specials and such, or what was it like when you left?

OK, so figured I would take a ride and see if anything was left. I put in an order for a 513T through mail order, but... maybe????? Got there somewhere around 11:00 was happy to see some .22 left. Last time they had a run on .22 I got the last Remington 541T, so this time would be after something else. I bought one of the bad 513T barreled receivers back then and have been completing it snice (it can be done). Well this time I got the last 521T not the best looking rifle but I'm happy. also picked up a good 513T barreled receiver so I will have a nice one of those. The reports are correct lots of NON collector's stuff but it can be used to complete some of your projects.
Always a good time, and good luck with your projects.
