Default M1 Garand Stripped Receivers

I have orderded a stripped receiver via mail (luck of the draw) and althought it functions great with only minor pitting, the heel markings are all but non existent. I want to build a Garand for my son and would like to start with a hand picked receiver by a knowledgeable forum member.

Any forum member that would be willing to turn in my paperwork for a Garand stripped receiver, please pm or e-mail me at sockeyedr@yahoo.com Thanks in advance, Homer.

A lot of folks have been very satisfied with the services Magnas 85-86 provides. He may see this thread and contact you. If not, you can find him. Click on "Community" drop down menu above and select "Members List". I'm sure he'd pick you a real keeper.

Thanks gunny. I would use Magna's great service, but his next trip is not until December and I wanted to get this rifle built for my son's secret xmas present. Homer

Call the North Store and ask them to pick out a receiver. I found a couple of nice ones when I was there on Saturday and I left them there.

They are all nice...I went through the box and didn't see one that was bad.

Can you do that? Please let me know as I'm a qualified CMP rifle purchaser.

No, I am sure you can't call the store and have them select anything for you. Can't imagine the nightmare this would cause store employees trying to shop for hundreds of customers.

I did find someone to pick one out for me. Thanks, Homer

Best you can do is put a sticky on a order asking for a sharp heel stamp

I had ordered asking for a specific serial range and they took care of me. As long as you ask for a reasonable request they usually take care of you.

Us guys can suggest all over the place -- best to go to the real deal -- call the customer-service people up and ask. They probably know better than us about the sticky request. I do it all the time with stuff, but haven't ever bought a reciever. They might be able to bend things better with them.
