Default HRA Barrel Drawing Number...

So I purchased an H&R from an auction, and finally doing my data sheet. According to US Rifle CAL30M1 my barrel drawing number should be HRA D6528287. But this one has HRA 6535448 5-55 RS52, with no D suffix. That drawing number is under the list for IHC. What up with this? Sorry if this has been discussed before! Serial Number for the Rifle is 5623051. Thanks

Scott Duff has a 5,56x,xxx with that drawing number, dated 11-54.

My bet is yours is correct for your SN.

You can't go by US Rifle CAL30M1, that site is known for having errors. Your barrel has a typical HRA marking.

Agree, and beware of that site for factual info.....

Pick up one of these...handy to have on hand if you continue to purchase garands.

Your good to go!......That site is strewn with errors. Do not change anything on your rifle based on that site unless you double check with other sources!

Nice rifle!

The drawing/part number on your barrel is correct and appropriate. The other number just might be for a bolt, same manufacturer, same vintage. And no, dates don't really collate according to books, and never did. Yours is almost certainly original to that rifle.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I sent a request of information to the CMP, haven't heard back yet. My next question is when it comes to the HRA's that were made towards the end of production, how common or uncommon was it for these to not be rearsonalled? This one is all correct, with the stock being dented and dinged. So I believe everything has been together since birth. LOL

Many of the Greek returns from about 10 or so years ago were in the condition you see with yours.....correct or close to correct. When sent to Greece many were new rifles and when returned went to the Army and then to CMP....and never saw an arsenal for a rebuild.
Likely your rifle came from CMP at one time.
Congrats on your new rifle!

Your right Shomway. I just received the CMP correspondence. It was sold from the North Store in 2005, as a Greek return. It has definitely been untouched since then. Im happy to hear it was sold through the CMP. Anyone remember what these went for in 05?
