Default The last Garand made

I've seen several threads about who has the earliest Garand, and there's folks that have 4 digit rifles.
I'm wondering who has the highest number Garand out there? Maybe the last Garand made before production ceased?

The last M1 to roll off the regular Springfield line is now in the Springfield Armory Museum, if I'm not mistaken. I've heard there were some higher-numbered M1's produced as NM rifles, but those more learned about such matters will be along to weigh in on the issue.

Last production line M1 Garand Serial 6084405

Here is a link the SPAR collection website page for that item.
http://ww2.rediscov.com/spring/VFPCG...ABASE=57386520,

Now I belive they hand made some rifles with higher serials with overun parts. Mostly NM grade, but not allways.

Highest known is 6100499 i belive. It was raffled by the old DCM I think.

I think you've got an extra 0 in there. Only seven digits in a 6 mil.

According to Mr. Scott Duff's blue book on the post war M1 Garand, the last "official" M1 Garand came off of the Springfield Armory assembly line at 10:43 AM on 17, May 1957. Mr. Garand attended the ceremony. The serial number of this rifle was 6084405. It is now on display at the Springfield Armory museum. M1 Garand's with higher serial numbers than 6084405 do exist, however, they are rather rare, hard to find and very valuable. Many high 6-million serial numbered M1 Garands were built into National Match rifles using left over existing receivers. Some believe that a few 7.62mm NATO chambered Garands were also produced using the same left over existing receivers from when regular M1 Garand production stopped and M14 production began.
