Sweet! I still have a 6.08 that is nice. The last of the LEADs I was keeping watch over. An auction girl as well.

Yes, as the originator of this thread I think we can safely retire it after 7 years.

As I owe you a few bucks already I might as well make another comment

Two articles regarding 6100499 can be found in the Summer 2007 and Summer 2008 issues of the GCA Journal. The summer 2008 article is the story of Roger Miner's 1958 purchase of his rifle through the DCM. The 2007 article, while it too addresses 6100499, this article by Bob Seijas, speaks mainly of Bob's trip to the Sales and Donations Section of Rock Island Arsenal and the research he did in regards to "how high Garand serial numbers really went". A must read article.
