Not including the LMR barrels, which starting appearing in the 5.5 S/N range, other than a few 55 barrels showing up before or after a 56 barrel there is no record of early HRA barrels on page 8 of Duff's blue S/N book but anything is possible.

Ron,

There are instances of early original HRA/LMR barrel usage, not many, but proofed appropriately. Perhaps due to interchangeability testing, perhaps not. Scott's charts are somewhat scant while still accurate, they are just not comprehensive enough in quantity to pick them out.

There are also several instances of 4.66 HRA rifles returned to CMP by buyers because their original LMR 2-55 barrels were "wrong."

For confirmation of my point check out the 6.0 million HRA currently on the auction site and note the barrel date.

I found an old Scott Duff article where he lists barrels used in HRA production and there are a good number of early barrels used in the 4.66 serial range including a couple of 3-52s. I guess that makes the answer to your question, Yes

Hey, there we go!
It still blows my mind how much information is floating around but difficult to find.
Thanks everyone. Good discussion.
