Default Inherited an IHC M1 Garand - Please share your knowledge

I recently inherited a M1 Garand with an International Harvester Company Postage Stamp Heel. I'm fascinated by the history tied to this rifle and want to learn all I can about it. I read wikipedia and watched a disassembly video. Prior to receiving permission to post on this forum I reached out to rob30-06 who provided more information and resources. I' now resolved to disassemble the rifle and verify it's authenticity (or not).

My Dad was a Korean veteran (5th Regimental Combat Team) and bought the Garand somewhere in the 1975-1978 time period when we resided at the same place.

Here's what I know so far:
SN 4523XXX (Postage Stamp style)
Bolt draw D-6528287 IHC
Trigger Housing IHC D6528290
Operating Rod D-6535382 IHC
RX right side D6528281-D
Hammer C-5546008 IHC
Stock barrel channel 252 and other
Acceptance Stamp evidence
Proof Mark
FED ORD INC. SC. El MONTE, CA on barrel

Please share any information or knowledge you have, I'm anxious to learn all I can.

Thanks

Federal Ordnance imported that rifle from somewhere and was required to mark it.

I also purchased one in that time period from Fed Ord. The rifle was original with all parts matching for the date and usage wear. It appears yours is too.

If you do a search for IHCFAN55, you will learn a lot about IHCs.

Very nice!
My Gap Letter 46419_ _. Is lightly mark Fed Ord.
I believe Fall 2007 GCA magazine did a article about these IHC’s.
They were offered to law enforcement officers in California.

It was purchased by a law enforcement officer.

What is the significance of the stock barrel channel number being 3 digits and not 4?

The LMR Barrel punch is up and left of the LMR stamp. Is that odd?

That may not be the punch mark. See post by IHCFAN55
http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread....ight=LMR+punch

Also, the dates in the barrel channel are 4 digits. Even when the number was less than 100, the number had a leading 0. In your case it looks more like the person striking the number did so at an angle and didn't completely strike the first 2 or the number in front of it. It might be my imagination but I think I see the straight part of the top of a 3 in front of the first 2. If so then your date would be 3252 or 21 Nov 1952.

Nice looking rifle in any case.
