I'll see what I can do. I couldn't read them. The park is very dry and I didn't want to oil it up!! I'll get the magnifying glasses out!

OK, mine is an 0688 and has a swivel.....the info has to be backwards.

That picture of the markings is a repack from 68, not 60, so you are correct in the change. The earliest contract I have been able to find is 1962.

The mark A2 is incorrect. The E2 became designated as M14A1 around 1966.

Here is a 1963 pack. This is what original packing will look like.

Thanks Bill, great info. Someone for some reason "inked" out another marking that appears to be further up the package. It's not legible. I would love to know what it reads!

I have 2 new in the package M14 bipods. I opened one it was very dry wrapped in the silver vci paper. The outside is brown thick paper with the information printed on it. I left the other alone wrapped up. I will look at the printed information tonight and take some pictures. I got them a few years ago on gunbroker. I think the one I opened still had the DOD stamp not sure I wrapped it back up and stuck it in the safe.

Given Bill's info on packaging, mine could very well be a depot rebuild or something. It doesn't have a DOD stamp or the M on the bottom of the pads. The cotter pin in the swivel looks new. It could be that mine is the earlier version that was upgraded to swivel and longer pin. But it came in the same wrapping as you described. VCI paper covered by some sort of material that looks like crepe paper. I'll have to do some more research!

Once I see original printing, I can determine if it is original contract packing, or repacked.
