Default WTS: Genuine Krag M1898 Carbine

Here is an honest-to-goodness Krag 1898 Carbine that went through the 1901 upgrade. Unfortunately, the previous owner made a few modifications, including installing sling swivels in the barrel band and stock, as well as cutting off 1" from the buttstock to replace the metal plate with a plastic one while keeping the same LOP? quite a shame, but it's still a very rare 1898 Carbine (5000 made). Barrel is exactly 22" measured with a wooden rod to a closed bolt face. Front sight is dovetailed seamlessly, correct carbine profile and I believe is 'C' marked underneath. Rear sight base and leaf are marked 'c'; leaf is graduated to 2300 yards. Handguard is the longer style with hump to protect rear sight when installed in a scabbard. Stock is the 1899 style, with cartouche (believe it to read '1901') and 'P' proof. Has barrel band spring, which is correct. Overall in really nice shape and an honest example of a rare carbine. Find another carbine barrel band and 1899
stock, restoring it to it's arsenal-upgraded config or spend some time and money looking for original 1898 stock and rear sight if you want it as-manufactured. Asking $1200 OBRO
