They are some of the best receivers available. Depending on what has been done to it since import. I have a couple of Polys that are great rifles. I also have a Norinco 1911 pistol that I paid about $200. for brand new before the import ban. Other than a 12 lb trigger pull, it is one of my favorites. Are you thinking of getting a M-14s? Or do you already have one?

The Bolts in the Chinese made m14 clones have a reputation for being soft. The receivers are not bad. The issue is some parts will interchange with GI some will not. I would not pay more or even the same then you can get a SAI M1A for since at least with the SAI you get a warranty the Chinese no warranty.

I know some say they were a great deal, but I can't warm up to them. Guess I like my M14s made here - but thats just me.

I have a Norinco and a Poly-Tech. I had USGI bolt conversions done on them both. They are top shelf rifles. I have close to 8K+ rounds thru the Poly without a hiccup. They are both just as accurate and durable as my domestically produced M14 clones. I buy Putins bullets also and I shop at W**lmart.

Not saying they can't be made into good rifles, I just can't warm up to an M14 made in the Orient. By the way, I too think its high time we start throwing our weight behind home made products and find it ironic that W**lmart used to brag about the very same thing. Anyway, enough politics and good shooting!

Well I bought an American product. Fed Ord, M-14SA. Low serial number (5XXX) in 1988 with all USGI parts. It was a nightmare, sent back twice with headspace issues it returned the second time with the same receiver and stock. All other parts changed out, not a single identifying mark on any part except for an eletro-penciled number on the trigger group. I was pretty bummed and gave up on Fed Ord "customer service" - ha, that expression looks funny in writing.

However, although I don't shoot it that much the thing has run like a top since, although I am getting a little nervous about the soft bolt issue. The flat screen, iphone, and computer chip in this lap top all seem to run well - why not an M-14?

I don't do Chinese firearms. They make junk. Imagine that....parts interchangeability issues????? I would own an SAI well before I would buy Chi-com.

You can build an M14 with USGI parts kit. Why not....Treeline or Windy City Sourcing???? LRB bolt, Criterion barrel, Fulton or SEI receiver, USGI stock from the forums or Freds. Then you would have something superb. Around $2000.
