Default New to me Remington 40X HB USN SATU marked

Good evening all,

I posted a new to me 40X I recently purchased. It is marked USN SATU and the serial number on the heel of the grip of the stock.

The prev. Owner apparently got it from Art Luppino that is a well known M14/M1A gunsmith. He was also an armorer for SATU down in San Diego and apparently the well known Don McCoy was the one that worked on my rifle while it was part of SATU marksmanship program.

Iím not sure if anyone else has seen one before?? Art Luppino said they had several .22 trainers, but they did not ďsurviveĒ and were scrapped (demilitarized or turned in Iím assuming) after they were shutdown due to lack of funding I believe in the 70ís.

If anyone has any more info on these USN 40xís, please share.

Here is the post I have at RFC and w/ a couple of pics
