Default Winchester M12 Trench Gun question

I am working on converting a Winchester Model 12 shotgun to a M12 Trench Gun. for a friend of mine.

Can anyone with a real Winchester M12 Trench gun tell me the distance from the toe of the stock (without buttplate) to the rear edge of the rear sling swivel mount ?

References I have read cite anywhere from 2 3/8" to 3 1/2".

Thank You!

PM or email cdj7097. In the referenced thread he says he has a Winchester M12 Trench Gun for trade, and so might be able to answer your question.

The Army bought the Winchester Model 97 in three basic sizes/configurations during WW I. Some were the Trench model, others were a shortened barrel sort of riot gun, and the third was simply regular length barrel. The Model 12, while around in the Civilian market starting in 1912, was not adopted by the military until WW II.
