Default Barreled actions in box by counter?

In the past there was a box of barreled actions by counter? Is that still there and what's the latest report of what's in it? Al

There is a case of receivers by the counter; the quality varies from very good to pitted.

There is a rack of barreled receivers with bolts, again, the condition of the receivers vary. The barrels seem to be NOS replacements, the bolts are headspaced?

Serial numbers on both items range from six digits to postwar.

They are M1 Garand and are $350 plus shipping. There were 4 or 5 six digits when I was there on the 15th.

$350 ouch. I would just buy the $525 rifle. I doubt for the price difference that I could buy the parts needed to finsih that $350 action . Thanks for the info. Al

Actually Al, not too bad from what I saw a couple of weeks back. 5, 6, and 7 digit receivers with NOS 50's barrels and a variety of bolts with head space checked. All "appeared" to be fresh arsenal refin. I am really tempted.

I agree with you here. I went through the SA field grades and found a lot that were nice. See my post on the 15th. Some good GI stocks and hand guards. Lots of 6 digit through post war.

For $525 you do not get a NOS barrel (although I've purchased several field grades with MEs between 0.5 and 1.5 in the past). On the other hand, you will likely find a non-pitted receiver with some arsenal finish or refinish remaining. Look at both FGs and BRBs while at the store before you opt for one over the other.

Regarding the finish on the BRBs, I personally consider them to be in the category of commercial refinish, just my take on it.
