Default Not seeing a lot of difference between service and field grade lately.

Lots of really good me/te readings for the field grade. Just some surface rust .
Do you guys think getting an original barrel is better with a field grade ?

Agreed! The only thing for sure is that you will get a walnut stock as apposed to Hackberry if there isn't USGI wood on it. Not sure what to think is going on there. Barrel readings are about the same for both examples being shipped as of late.

If you want the best chance for a great barrel, you're still far better off ordering a Service Grade, and then there's the whole Hackberry thing. Y'all can have the Field Grades. I've always been in the Service Grade camp unless I can hand pick at the North Store.

Agree with all above. I mailed last month for a SG (https://imgur.com/a/y0nItw7) and FG (https://imgur.com/a/WfI1xrk) and was frankly happier with the FG. I did a sticky for USGI wood and got lucky.

Recent TMP visit I got these two WRA SG (https://imgur.com/a/Bhk2dHI) and FG (https://imgur.com/a/jyFdPkO) that just arrived last week.

If you can visit one of the three stores, highly recommend the trek to find what you really want.

I'm thinking of changing my SG order to FG if I knew for sure the GI DuPage HRA stock I ordered will ship as it was the last one order says Hold for some unknown reason.

Both of my orders say that. I think it just means that they haven't gotten around to processing it yet. I like DuPage a lot, but they are not very fast in processing and shipping.

The site base on your FG has some interesting milling marks. I wonder if it is WRA.

Hey, you're right, I completely missed that. Will have to investigate, thanks!
