Pair of Consecutive M1Cs on Auction

A very pretty pair of consecutive M1Cs are on auction.

Unfortunately the CMP photographer failed to provide views of the interior base mounting holes - to allow the determination if the bases were original to the rifles.

No markings on the bases are shown either, nor are they in the description.

Maybe Rolling Thunder can provide information from his extensive database on the markings, if any on the bases, and also if the original staking was cut out when the bases were removed.

3251795: Base unmarked, staked receiver, bbl. SA 12-54

3251796: Base unmarked, staked receiver, bbl. SA 1-55

Bases probably original.

Looking at the pictures, the bracket on 3251796 has characteristics of a Greek replacement bracket. If you zoom in on the picture in the link below (the 22nd picture in the album) you can see the small radius milling marks on top and the rough milling/grinding on the rear of the bracket:

The protruding pins that show in this picture (the 18th picture in the album) seem to reinforce that possibility:

Just my 2 cents worth. Very nice and early M1C's in any case!
