Default Leupold Alaskan

I'm building a mock 1903A4 and have the Leupold Alaskan scope. Is there a trick to remove the turning eye piece to slip the rings on? There is a stop that prevents me from unscrewing it all the way.

thanks.....ron

You have to remove the aft lense that you look throught by loosening the lock ring, then turn both parts off. Slide the aft scope ring on. When I did mine, there wasn't a lock. Can you take a picture and post so I can see it?

Since the 1903A4 Sniper used split rings, why would you need to unscrew the ocular of the scope to mount it? (original used a weaver 330 scope, the garands used Lyman scopes (Alaskan, etc) and just renamed them with military nomenclature) Is this a repro of the Lyman Alaskan by Leupold?

I saw another post the bolt rifle forum on how to get the ring on the scope without taking the end off. -"Consulted the local sage and it turns out you just bend open the ring. Dont do it too often, but the steel is thin to allow it to be bent...no big deal. "

Ron
it should screw off and then the lock ring, slide the scope ring on and pit it back together. that is a cool scope. I have one just like it on my A4, but Lyman Alaskan 2.5.

Very nice!

I use my Lyman Alaskan on my Woodless Dane M1 converted to M1D. I did not know Leopold made a copy of the Lyman.

I ended up e-mailing Leupold. They asked that I send the scope in and they would put on the rear ring. Sent it out today. Is this a rare scope?
