Question USGI 1911 mags?

Quote:
This magazine is original equipment GI Magazine; Made in the USA.
Probably asked and answered before but SEARCH didn't bring it up. Seeing the
Genuine USGI 1911 mags for sale again. Cage code 30745 which does not make sense.

Anyone got any new info?

Stay away from Mason Rust contact mags. Most that are in circulation are bogus. I believe that a large quantity of 30745 marked mags either came from a rejected lot or their floorplates were sold after their contract was cancelled and were then used by unscrupulous individuals who attached them to mag bodies that are not USGI spec and of poor quality. These mags are typically wrapped in brown paper packaging and marketed as USGI surplus. Aside from feeding issues due to the mags being out of spec, the base plate welds fail with limited use.

You'll be able to tell if the mags are knock-offs based on the finish, location of the witness holes, size of the drain hole, and shape of the feed lips.
