Default WTB M1917 barrel in magnum caliber

Greeetings.

I am looking for a .308 caliber magnum barrel for an earless M1917 rebuild project. Barrel must be new or like new with a ME reading of 1 or less.

I would prefer a 300 Win Mag heavy barrel but will consider other magnum calibers like 300 Weatherby, 308 Norma or 30 Newton.

DJE: SARCO will sell you a new 17 barrel (P17070) for $94.95. Rent a reamer and make whatever you want--just a suggestion. Good Shooting....

That is tempting, but I wanted to build something fun for a change--something different. I got half a dozen bolt '06s already.

Was looking into a .338 Lapua, but It would be hard to beat the price of the off the shelf Savage. Tallying what was needed, I had a hard time matching their price, let alone beating it. It can be had for as little as $1,173 online. I can hardly get a barrel and muzzle brake for that price!

A Newton would be fun, that guy had a lot of great ideas that were just a bit ahead of their time. I would love to find a NOS eliptical rifled barrel. That would be cool.

A heavy barrel would fill an empty niche in the safe. There is a 300 Win Mag available, but it is not much different that my 300WSM. Though it would be great in the desert where I often shoot.

Was looking at a 264 Winchester, but it looks like a used barrel. That is another great caliber that time has almost passed over. I don't have anything in the 25-06, 270, 7mm class.
