With hauls like that, maybe the drive from central Texas might be worth it.

Lol I just made the trip from outside of Fort Worth and back on wheels. It’s a helluva haul! I’m looking at meeting my retired cousin out there and round trip from DFW can be had from $60-$150! Coming back would be a little more as rifle cases would need to be checked.

I went for the SG upgrade. You don’t see WRAs in any grade very often.

If I didn't already have a few WRA SGs with WRA barrels from Store visits of several years ago, I would definitely have been a frequent visitor recently. It's still kinda hard not to go down, as it is a less-than-eight-hour round trip.

It looks like the best bet is a trip to the SS to get one of these. I mailed an order for a WRA FG back in mid Sept. I ended up upgrading to a SG and got it yesterday 9 weeks to the day since I mailed the order. To be blunt I'm not happy. Heavy rust all over the receiver as well as heavy pitting, lots of rust on all the parts. Barrel is a SA 54 date with rust in the bore, tag showed it gauging a 1+ at the throat but is more like a 3 which is still ok. HRA bolt with so much rust on the internals the firing pin was almost stuck, refinished WRA trigger housing that was apparently put on by the CMP as there is no rust on that. Came with CMP wood, talk about lipstick on a pig. No doubt one of the P.I. rifles. Have it soaking with Kroil and will see how it cleans up. Mail order is a crap shoot for sure. Just my experience, yours may be different. Happy Thanksgiving also.
