Default First trip to South Store

My wife and I are making our one and only trip to a CMP Store this next week. It is a long drive from Kansas City to Anniston and a painful drive as I am crippled.

My goal is to claim an M1 Carbine should there be any and to find a nice IHC in GI wood plus a good shooter range rifle with any receiver, Criterion barrel and new CMP stock. Two out of three would be good.

My greatest fear is that I will get into the store and run amuk. I can only afford so many.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the store reports on Thursday morning as I may get in before closing on Thursday but intend to be there early Friday.

Anxious to go.

Default "Running Amuck in the Store"

I was pretty much in the exact same boat a week ago on my first trip and fairly crippled and senile as well.

Don't worry. They are great people. Ask for Mike.

I spent 2 hours there and likely would not have come away with as good a selections were it not for he and the rest the friendly staff.

I don't think you will regret the journey. I sure do not.

It looks like there are no carbines available, but you never know about next week. If one does show up and you get one, make sure to buy lottery tickets on the way home!

There are some really nice Garands, though. You could get one from all 4 makers for an instant collection.

Good luck, don't rush and I've found the CMP folks are all helpful, great people to deal with.
