I cannot afford one either and having qualified on an M4, I'm sticking with an A2 stock for that very reason: Good stock weld.

Me thinks me will put globe sights on my service rifle and show up and say hey, "globe sights matter". With my eyesight I deserve to be treated "fairly"!!!!
You need to read the rule book.

It says, if you wish to use irons they must be standard military style AR sights, A frame w/ post and aperture in carry handle at standard A2 or M4 sight radius.

No kidding Rootsy? I apologize for not saying I was being sarcastic with my post!
Heck now that TrackingPoint is deployed, maybe we should petition the CMP to allow their system for next year as well (sarcasm)

Hi folks, fairly new here, I am searching for a method to attach a M1 web or 1907 sling to a UBR on an AR-15 to be used in CMP service rifle matches. The link to the pic no longer works (photobucket sez photo is deleted or moved). Any help... thanks a bunch, Doug

I just to update how I'm mounting a sling to my UBR stock. I got the aluminum striker plate insert or what every you call it and modified it to add a sling swivel in a more traditional location.

So how is this gonna work with the new UBR edition coming out? Doesn't look like the "striker plate" is going to be removable in the new version.

Anyone else notice a weird sensation/torque when slinging from the side of the UBR?

For those looking for a less expensive stock option, I'm using a Magpul ACS. So far it is working well. The only thing I'm not totally happy with is attaching the sling to the side of the stock with a QD.

I have the ACS on two rifles, and the UBR Gen 1 on one. I like the UBR a lot better, even though the price gap is impossible to ignore.

Really happy to see the price on the Gen 2 UBR come down a lot though. Think I'm gonna buy one for my wife and trade for her Gen 1 UBR.
