The standard bullet for 9mm accuracy is the Hornady 115GR HXP. It'll typically shoot better than 45 Auto in a well-fitted 1911.

I believe I recall you like the SA Range Officer? Not sure if that comes in 38 super or not?
Yep, unfortunately, the RO only comes in .45 ACP or 9mm. I suppose you could substitute a .38 Super barrel in their 9mm model. Clark Custom guns has .38 Super barrels that they sell. It would just take fitting the bushing. It might need a different extractor and ejector. Being partial to Colts first, I might go with their new competition model. It would be easy enough to change out the rear sight to a Bo-Mar type sight and the front sight is now legal.

I am still trying to figure out if there is still a weight limit, as I intend to shoot Modern Military at Perry this year, and want to know if my RRA is going to cut it, or if I am going to have to go and dig into the safe for something lighter. It is 9.7 lbs without optics.

Good morning Crane Hunter,

I will take a shot at this question for my own learning benefit.
If I understand you correctly you are asking definitively about the Modern Military (M.M.) Event, NOT an EIC match, yes?

If I am correct you mean the Modern Military Match there does seem to be a weight limiit for M.M.
Copied and pasted is what I found in the rule book:

5.2.3 U.S. Modern Sporting Rifles, Class A
Category A Modern Sporting Rifles must comply with these additional
requirements:
 Rifles based on the M-16 or AR design and manufactured by a USA
manufacturer must be used.
 Total rifle weight, with sights and without sling, may not exceed 8.5
pounds.

I found the above on pages 41 & 42.

IF you are asking about AR style rifles in EIC matches...there is no weight limit.... That is not considered to be the Modern Military match though.

Hope this helps.
