Default South Store from Orlando, FL.

Now that I've relocated, a trip to the SS is a genuine possibility. I'm in the Kissimmee area near I-4 and US-27. Any advice on the best route? I-75 to Atlanta and then west on I-20 seems the obvious choice, but I'm open to suggestions.

That's what my apple map says. Either that or get off i-75 in Tifton and go across GA to Columbus, Ga then into Alabama and up 431 to Anniston.
One is quicker, one a "little" more scenic.

Edit to add: Going off the interstate you will see more of the smaller towns, farmland, etc. Many in GA and one county in AL are well known for their "Blue Light Greetings." If you travel that way you HAVE to obey the ever-changing speed limits!

You need to update your address in the header, I-4 and US-27 puts you in Haines City area. Used to go that way North till it turned into wall to wall traffic. I-75 is about your best choice. From down here, it is a 12+ hour drive.

Map app says right at 8 hours. I get traffic can be gnarly around I-4 and 27, but the app is fairly accurate, unless dealing with rush hours or crashes.

Either way, it's a decent day drive and could be a fun weekend. Don't forget the Talledega shooting range to the west of Anniston.

I love Kissimmee, have visited there thrice already this year.

I4 to FL Tpke to I75 to I20. I suppose you can take US27 north to the turnpike as well.

They changed the procedure after they moved to the new SS. When you buy at the SS you will pay the 10% Anniston sales tax even if they ship the rifle home for you.

I make a long run from south Florida up that way every few months (family business) and find that 75, then 285 west to I-20 works the best... I try to clear Atlanta before 3:30Pm on the run.... Since I'm a long retired cop I learned long ago to use my cruise control set at 8 miles over whatever the posted limit is - and never get stopped. My final destination is a bit north of Anniston to Huntsville and 431 is where I actually need to pay close attention to the road.... My mileage at the end of the trip (with a very early start) is somewhere north of 800 miles in that day. The run up is eased by gaining an hour as I cross over into Alabama.

The hard part is just grinding out the miles and being a bit disciplined about the time it takes for gas and pit stops (at my age probably two pit stops for each gas stop...). Reversing the run, the beltway around Atlanta, then the road construction areas south of Atlanta, are still the only hassles...

Now if the CMP ever got a new supply of carbines - I'd have a great reason to stick around Anniston for day or so.... Good luck on your trip.

The locals recommend the Thorton Road, exit 44, from Anniston back to the Airport. Check it out. If you have a firearm with you, The Marksmanship Park is worth a visit.
