Nice video (again).

How well does that hammer work without a "spacer"?

Thanks.

The TH came off a destroyed gun that someone spun on a QHMC tube receiver and broke the receiver. Me and a friend got the rest of the parts (barrel, type VI slide, VI TH, and nice blued round bolt). Hard to find an actual E.W. flip safety.

Default I know this is out of question

I bought a universal m1 1970's era. and yes I know this if for all GI type.
my question is this
I can't get the safety to flip, yes it has a flip one.
I do not want to use to much forse to get it to work, but HATE not having a gun that the safety won't work.

any Ideas and NO i will not scrap it, i want to hunt pigs with it along with my AR.

thanks guys and gals

Can't you just take it apart, i.e. remove the release the double-ended safety-mag catch plunger thingee (DESMCPT) and remove the mag catch? Sounds like your safety may have a "burr" on it (or just needs grease) which would prevent the DESMCPT's detent plunger from slipping into the other position on the safety

Default think so

Little afraid to start taking it apart . Not real about it afraid i may mess it up.
But if all i have to do is take the mag catch out. Think i could do that.
I am a scrub tech for a living (meaning i work in surgery, stand across the table from the DR. and help him operate on people) I can field strip and put back together my AR..
Just not sure about the m1.

You will be amazed at how simple the carbine is once you open one up. Watch the videos!

I've encountered lots of problems like that with commercial parts. Even combos of USGI triggers and safeties sometimes hang up. The mag catch and safety are pretty simple to swap though. The trigger spring, trigger pin and sear can be tricky. Even worse on a commercial version.

@ mbuckley55. Watch the video and remove the mag catch. Don't worry, if you use too much force and break it, it isn't working anyway so you can't break it twice. Like you said the safety should work. You probably will find a broken spring or something outside of tolerance which might need to be file down. Tell us what you find.
