Default Strange stock markings

Saw this stock on a local site. Anyone seen anything like this before?

I am not interested in either, was just curious about that type of GHD stamp on a Garand stock, and the location of the open box SA. The stock is on a rough and pitted HRA reciever.

They are FAKE cartouches - that's why they are the way they are. You will never see those stamps and locations on a real GI Garand stock. For the record, that "crossed canon" cartouche is completely fake too.

As far as fake cartouches go, that's a HORRIBLE fake. NONE of those stamps, even real ones, belong on an HRA stock.

The stock has the lines of an SA and I believe you can see the faint remains of an original SA cartouche under the humped GHD stamp.

That Open Box SA looks pretty convincing to me and might be legitimately on the stock.

Rob

Might have been a pretty decent stock before Bubba got ahold of it

Looking real hard it looks like the faint original cart might have been a GAW

Burn?... Looks like a nice stock that some steaming and sandpaper will fix. Don't disturb the open box SA though.
