Default USGI .30-06 "Red Plug" Blanks

Is there any market for these? I have 250 rounds on disintegrating links (1919?) that I have no use for. Any idea on value? Or should I just find an honor guard to donate them to?

Eli

Eli

They have a little value but not much.

Donate them to one of the Honor Guard organizations. All of the associations are hurting for blank ammo and your donation will be worth so much more than the value of a few cartridges.

If you donate these blanks to a honor guard unit , or whomever, please check the headstamp date and make sure it isn't corrosive, we try and not use any dated earlier than 1954 just to be on the safe side. Most of the unit rifles i have redone for any post have severe pitting from the piston back about 6" due to the use of corrosive blanks over the years not to mention anything else that came into contact with these corrosive gasses. They would be alright to use in a bolt gun because they have less parts to clean but thats the other problem, most units do not clean their rifles on a regular basis and they tend to rust away between cleanings. If these blanks turn out to be corrosive it would be nice to let the new owner know about cleaning after use, thanks for your thought of legion posts.

I think all the dates are 52-54, so probably all corrosive. Ugh.
