Default Thoughts on Auto Ord barrels

Hey all,

I have a few "project" carbines and I am trying to find a "shooter" barrel to install on one until I find the correct barrel (Undated Winchester).

I am curious to know if anyone has tried to install an Auto Ordnance repop barrel on a USGI receiver. For less than $130 it may be a good option. I did notice that the price is for "Preorder" so I am guessing they are not normally in stock.

Maybe nobody is responding because they have not purchased any. Pretty sure AO/KAHR/Inland...do not make their own barrels and they may be good. I have never owned one of the new-age commercials and cannot speak from personal experience, but the reputation of this "family" of carbines is not very good. Maybe no one wants to risk one of their barrels, regardless of who manufacturers them.

Good used take-off barrels are out there and you can find one for a lot less than they ask on auction sites. You just have to persevere. A commercial take-off would suit your needs for the time being I suppose and they do show-up....just have to avoid the later Universal barrels.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys.

I think I will continue to look for a take off barrel before buying one of the Auto Ordnance barrels.
