Default "Well York, I hear you have captured the whole German Army?"

"And I told him I had a tolerable few."

Ninety-five years ago today, Sergeant Alvin C. York earns the Medal of Honor while leading a detachment of Company G, 328th Infantry Regiment, in fighting during the Meuse-Argonne campaign.

But, with what rifle was he armed?

pretty well boils down to one of two theories. There were more 1917's over there than 03's so many speculate that he had a '17. On the other hand he liked the '03, so who's to say he didn't "arrange" for one? Also, I believe his family said that he claimed the '03. Tough call, I say. We need Mr Peabody and his Way-Back machine for this one...

Not going down THAT road again! I have my opinions, but so does everyone else.

He was into guns, and was the technical advisor for the movie. 1917s were available. Why would he permit an incorrect rifle to be so prominent in the Hollywood presentation of the event?

Well he also carried a Luger in the movie. I don't think you can form any real information based on the weapons an actor carried in a movie.

Did he have a 1903 or 1917? None of us know.

Suffice to say, he didn't use a sling shot, a gun and bullets is about the best you can say at this point.
