www.carbineclub.com would have the newsletters. They are available as individual issues. Reisch is ok in general terms but has quite a few errors. Early block of Inland is especially tricky as things were being changed and redesigned almost daily at that time. So it is very dependent on serial number, as to what is "correct" or "orignal". Or should I say, what is accepted as correct? The data is really not that good from those times from any of these manufacturers. they were building these rifles as fast as they could with whatever parts they could get.

Well I bought it. Inland serial #882766. Flip sight, high wood with cartouche & type 1 band. Needs an early slide to be correct I think.

Looks like an E279 or E379 slide for that serial range. Number per carbine club data sheet. PI would be the maker. Type one barrel band was correct for that early block according to newsletter 346

Late type slide may be correct inlands in the sn range of yours were made by Saginaw and were not produced in sequential order on the serial numbers.
What is the barrel date and do you have any pics?

Pics will be up later. The type band 1 is missing the part for the sling. What would be the correct oiler for this rifle? I have a IS magazine for it. Not sure if that's correct. The barrel is hard to read as far as date goes. That part wasn't covered in cosmoline and it is pitted. The previous owner said March '43 I think.
The sight has an "S" on it. The band a "UI". The front sight a "Z" or "2" I think. Top handguard is a 2 rivet. Butt plate is a diamond shaped pattern.

I found a oiler marked II. Now I need a correct WWII sling and a correct slide (?). I also need the sling hoop for the type 1 band. The band is marked UI. Anybody got any of these items they want to sell? I have a 15 round IS magazine I will trade for a IA magazine. I am new to carbines so please advise if I am off base here. Thanks!
