Default 1917 Eagle Image

Saw this 1917 and wondered about the eagle image on the side... it appears to be a decal. Anyone know if this was a drill/parade rifle? Can the image be removed without damaging the original finish?

Why would you want to remove it??

The Eagle...should be removed.

But a Yugo M48 with shellacked David Hasselhof picture should be saved.

Well, it looks like the decal (sticker) is in tough shape... and if I show up at the range with it in that condition the guys are going to start calling me Captain America.
