Default 1960 Match Ammo 30-06

A local shop has some ammo in a ammo can, 19 boxes of 20 rds. each for a total of 380 rds. It is marked 1960 match ammo on the boxes, it is 30-06 caliber. Can anyone tell me how this stuff shoots and what would be a good price to pay for it? Thanks!

Are you interested in buying for collecting or shooting purposes?

Might be worth around $1 a round?

I agree. Was buying 20 round boxes for $18-20 per box. A local shop had a full match marked can of 400 and was asking $600 but dropped their price to $400...not sure if it sold.

Thanks, a local shop just took it in and I did not really pay it too much attention other than it was marked 1960 Match, I did not even notice who manufactured it, does that matter? I may go back today and have another look as they had not even priced it yet.

If it is truly 1960 Match ammo it could be FA..... Frankford Arsenal.
Not sure when Lake City started loading NM ammo, I thought around 1962.

Yeah, good stuff and I snatch it up whenever it pops up at $1/round or lower.
Each of the Garands here have their favorite year/lot ammo. I keep a book on them and have pretty much dialed in which ammo each one likes best.

I went ahead and picked it up, it almost looks too neat to shoot. Only one box is missing out of the can and all of the boxes are still sealed and look brand new. Is this a good lot number or is it known?

the boxes have: FA112 on them and on the end of box is 1520 W

Apparently one lot was set aside each year for use at Camp Perry National Matches, and your lot was not the lot RA used at Camp Perry in 1960. Still the same you have 380 rds. NM ammo with the same lot so should shoot the same.
Give this a read.....Post #6 and #9
