Mini Palma...KYL

So for giggles today I took my Annie to the range with aperture sights and shot at 100yds off the bench using a rest. I tried three different kinds of cheap target ammo. I have no idea if my results are good, bad, or otherwise. I was more concerned about elevation spread than windage (there was about a 6-8mph wind from right to left).

I made an aiming black the same size as a 800 yard mini Palma target and just used my 50 foot zero and shot for an overall group size (FWIW it was about 10” low)

Nice looking targets. What ammo where you using ? My Mini Palma targets came hopefully I get chance to get to the range soon. With the current ammo situation all I have to choose from are the three cheap ones I shot last week-I thought they did ok for what they are. I don’t know that I can shoot up to the standards of expensive target ammo anyway.

I don't shoot mini palma perse. I just started shooting actual Palma and due the scarcity of reloading components, I use a . 22 as a training tool for the real thing.
I shoot the mr31 target (600 yard MR target reduced for 100 yards) which has a 6" aiming black, at 100 yards.

My rifle is a H&R model 12. I use a globe front sight and a redfield international rear. I Iike the model 12 because I can easily mount an Unertl scope if I want an optic and switch back to irons.

Balisticly my 22 at 100 yards is almost the same as my 308 at 600 yards. At 200 yards my 22 is almost identical to the 308 at 1000 yards

That’s an interesting way to do it-the wind is a lot bigger deal with the .22 though. Makes for good practice I bet

Its great practice. At 200 yards, 10mph wind is worth 7 minutes with my .22
At 1000, 10 mph wind is about 7.5 minutes with the 308

Hi Fellows,

hebes405 is the real deal!

He helped my pal & I with loads for the 2019 Vintage Springfield match. We did constantly better, then what we were using before!
WE hope to one day spend sometime, sitting & learning at the feet of a present day MASTER class shooter & all round nice guy!

By the way hebes405, now that I softened you up, LOL - what ammo are you using for the 22 practice. I also have a H&R M-12 with a Unertl 10X scope &
two Mossburg's a M-44 & a 144LS that I have for over 57 years.
