Default Registration for GCA Members Meeting and Matches

Registration is open for the John C. Garand and Vintage Sniper matches to be held at Talladega Marksmanship Park in conjunction with the GCA Membership meeting, September 29, 2018. https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.p...it&match=17344

Register with GCA for the Membership Meeting here: http://thegca.org/events/2018-gca-membership-meeting/.

There is no charge to attend the Membership Meeting, and GCA is providing a BBQ dinner, but attendees still need to register so we have a head count and can verify membership.

Hope to see you there!

Looks like a fun time. A couple of buds and I are planning to be there. I grouped our questions together so (hopefully) you won't get bombarded with so many questions. I'm trying to generate some shooter interest and need more info.

Garand match
Is it the 35rd GSM, 200yd Course of Fire?
Can we shoot more than 1 relay?
Is there a separate category for As issued and Match (unlimited) garands?
how many shooters did you have last time?

mini-palma match.
Aperture sights OK for Irons?
Any scope limitations?
Will this be on Range 2?
will we use e-targets or paper?
how many shooters did you have last time?

I plan on shooting an old Russian heavy-barreled single shot bolt gun with a 6.5-20x scope. I would shoot it slung up prone. Do you see anything NOT ok with doing this?

thanks for your time,
Keith

Keith,
I'm going by memory of last meeting in 2016

Garand match
35 rnd GSM 200 yd
1 relay
No scores listed under the unlimited or OOC
45 posted scores

Mini Palma
Iron and scopes
Ask Larry Sollars what scope he used, I believe it's close to what you described
Range 2
Paper targets, all 6 were on 1 tall sheet
Scores were never posted, I'm guessing 15 or so showed up
We all shot slung prone with jackets, or at least the ones around me did

Hope this helps, they may have changed some this around since then.
I'm on the fence about this match and the M1A match that Tim is running at RBGC.
I seem to get a broken target most every time I shoot KTS

Shane

Thanks Shane. That is WAY more than I already knew. Ken Lore asked me to shoot Sniper with him (looks to be after the GSM match). I'm gonna shoot that one too. TMP or RBGC, either would be good.

cya at the range....

Yup, Shane has it covered. If I am reading my notes from the last meeting correctly, it was one relay, as was the VSTM. Regarding the Mini-Palma, it was a really fun match, shot on tall paper targets on the 100 yard line (I think it's called Range 2). Folks shot all sorts of different rifles, sling, scope, irons, everything... heck, we'll make a category for your Russian rifle if we have to, Keith!

The main goal of these is to get together and meet other members - and to talk and enjoy shooting our M1's. Not to mention, enjoy some BBQ!

I am sure it's going to be a great time as usual - feel free to email or PM me as we get closer if more info is needed or with more specific questions.

Mike, can’t register or pay match fees on the CMP Competition Tracker. Do we need to? I did register on the GCA site the other day.

Yup, we will all have to register on the competition tracker as well... they're working on that. If it's not up by Monday, I'll give them a call.
Feel free to email me or PM me in the meantime. We'll put a note on our website as well. Look forward to seeing you there!

I found them on the first page of the CT, and registered myself. I didn't, however, get to the payment screen... (I have had that trouble before, though, I am sure it is user error.)
It's the 12th one down on this page...
