Default Hello from a south burb of Chicago

Hello all, my names Karl. I'm from a town called Steger located just south of Chicago. I'm an Illinois rifle association member and an NRA life member. I frequent an Illinois 2A forum and conversation over there led me to the CMP where I just ordered my first garand. I went with the "special" grade. I'm still waiting on that to be processed and I'm really looking forward to its arrival. In the meantime, I'm stocking up on the 192 round cans of the Greek .30-06. I'm surprised it's still around! I'm reading post from 2010 about the pending end to the stock.
Anyway, it's good to be here. Hope to learn a lot

Welcome to the forum! I grew up north of the city in Evanston. Was fortunate to migrate to south Florida in 1978. Much more favorable climate, weather-wise & 2nd amendment-wise. Hope you enjoy your new M1, and definitely stock up on the Greek clipped ammo, best deal going on good Garand food.

Default Hello from NY

Karl:

I just signed up myself and thought maybe you'll appreciate this. Found in a barn on a farm a couple of weeks ago. Best I can figure it's from Remington in the mid 50's either manufactured then or repackaged leftover WW2 ammo. Some supplies never seem to run out !
I never intend to open it but thought it looked good just sitting there...

Welcome and hope you enjoy that Garand

That's a fantastic find! Thanks for sharing. I've placed orders for 9) 192 round spam cans and 1) 200 round loose packed .30-06.
Because there's a 2000 round yearly limit I wanted to stock up as quick as possible and I really wanted all 192 round spam cans. But I tend to want to collect things and may be torn on whether to open a can, so I got a can of loose .30-06. Now I got something to shoot
And I may still open 1. I've gotten a few cans that are dented. I may pick the worse one to open
