These are steel, not aluminum and have alloy followers... Nice set 7.62 X 51...

I believe these pouches were first issued to the Air Force, there was also a four magazine pouch too. Different materials were used as there are variations. Tom-in- NJ might have Viet Nam photos ?

7,62X51mm, I do have a VN photo of these pouches in use by USAF security personnel. They were worn upside down on the rear of the pistol belt. I can not locate the file at this time. Found it!

I have a ammo pouch just like that. I always wondered what type it was, use it on my carbine stock. works well too. Now I have to rethink its use. Faded markings on mine read 011 or something 11. Oooops, Didn't catch 7,62x51 was a user name, am taking pouch off Carbine and will use it with my M-16 clone (semi of course) that I built up for my Father who was in VN early 64/65 at Bien Thui, near Can Tho ( one or the other ). Sadly We lost him last month, He would have been tickled to know about it
