I think more people figured out it was about MATCH grade.

The Portuguese is ever so slightly better accuracy wise, but you will definitely never see any of that again imported, as a couple of years ago the Portuguese Government destroyed all there 1930's made German machinery and sold it for scrap metal. They deduced they no longer wish to manufacture ammunition as it does not fit there political beliefs. YES, they now buy ammo from outside sources for there military..

My understanding, Berdan primed. I think that's why no mention of how the brass is for reloading.

The stuff I have is 81 berdan primed in sealed vinyl battle packs. I do believe most all of it was berdan primed. The main point is it is reasonable MATCH grade ammo. If you read some threads and blogs you will find people get better results with it than say for example Federal GM MATCH and M118LR and so on.. The only thing that is going to compare is your dialed in quality component hand loads.

Default SA and Port

All the SA and Port ammo I have shot is berdan primed. Nice clean brass...but only good as scrap.

In my experience the SA and Port shoot way better than the standard LC or WRA.

Say a decent shooter off sand bags at 100 yards will get 3 - 3.5 MOA out of a MATCH Springfield Inc. M1A1 with LC or WRA Ball. The Port & SA most people get 1 MOA. Federal GM MATCH and M118LR most folks get about 1.5 - 2 MOA.
We all know how much Federal GM MATCH and M118LR costs per round.

Edit; Now, M852 MATCH, under 1 MOA with a VG+ shooter, but find some....
